Golf Course Business Meetings

"Tell me how my ass taste", were the words muttered to the older asian gentleman and his female friend as they begged B.A. and I to play through the 4th hole. Of course that quote comes from the great rapper Shaq-Fu and not an original line from either one of us. But overall, it was nice to get back on the course after so many years away from the game. Don't get me wrong, there was more chatter and business discussion in regards to a new contract for B.A. and the overall culture of the Clip Joint moving forward as we reach the midway point of our season than there was actual pure golf being played. Neither one of us dominated the course, but it was certainly a beautiful day outside and the commentary was light hearted and fun.

Now on to the preview of our game against "Team Rock" this weekend at 9:00 P.M. Every week we seem to be getting the opposing teams' best shot, and I expect no different this weekend because from day one they have been calling us out basically and waiting for the opportunity to play us. I believe #4 said it best we he told us he would be "circling the date on his calendar". I'm pretty sure that guy has zippy calendar and if he does he probably never really circled it. But, the game itself has the potential to be a difficult one for us if they play hard for 40 minutes. My gut tells me they won't sustain all that raw emotion and will either fold under the pressure if they fall behind or will wear down if we keep the tempo the way we like it. Afterall, they have a hard time getting more than 6 players to show up each week.

The bottom line is this, if we build on what we did last week we should be fine. If we somehow regress and put up a half ass effort, well we might taste defeat for the first time this season. The key is getting on top early and not letting up on them. The biggest challenge for me will be trying to distract myself so I do not have to listen to J.M. in my ear all game long calling me "coach" and filling my head with ideas on what we should be doing all game long. Until the recap on Monday....
